Jose Toral ('64), living in Spain, Levante - painter, musician and poet, dedicated himself to art since early childhood. Studied at the Academy of Fine Art in the Cartuja of Granada, Spain, and Visual Communication in the faculty of Dortmund, Germany.

His evocation to flamenco music and to literature (through autodidact studies), inspired him to combine that with the art of painting, drawing and illustration.

His expositions - pictoral activities in collectivity or alone - has given him the opportunity to travel to many countries of Europe, Asia and to Mexico.

His most recent technique, the aquarel of big format, he studies in Tawain and in Japan. This is a calligraphic technique called SUME-I, where the movement of the brush is quick, firm and brief, using deluded ink and chinese brushes.

His motives and themes, depending on which technique has been applied, are inbetween the figurative and the abstract, through the landscape, the synthesis of the form and its content. It's a non-conceptual painting as well as intuitive and pre-cognitive.

The experimental action-painting is part of the most recent pictoral works, using the scene as a painters "atelier" with other scenographic and audio-visual elements, creating compositions of colours and forms with music and live dance with the spontaneity of the moment.
